Product Management

Throughout my academic and professional journey, I’ve taken contributed to a range of product management initiatives. From my MBA capstone at Pluralsight to app development and innovative product concepts, my approach emphasizes data-driven decision-making and user-centric design.

Pluralsight

In a collaborative effort with a team of five, I took on the pivotal role of product management and data analytics, gearing towards my ultimate career ambition of product management. Guided by Marty Cagen’s principles of identifying star customers and delving into their insights, we aimed to tailor a product that resonated deeply with its users. The heart of our approach lay in direct customer engagement – conducting live interviews to discern genuine feelings and aspirations concerning the product. This invaluable feedback became the cornerstone for our ideation process. Following a structured methodology, we transitioned from Usability Interview Themes to Insights, Opportunities, Ideation, and finally, Prioritization. While the specifics are bound by an NDA, our rigorous approach yielded nearly 50 nuanced improvement ideas. The visualized framework on this Miro board captures the essence of our analytical journey. While it shields the actual data and findings to honor the NDA, it stands testament to our meticulous approach. Our culmination was a comprehensive paper and presentation, detailing customer personas, their narratives, overarching themes, insights, opportunities, and our top 5 product enhancement recommendations.

Automated Tracking Antenna WSU HARBOR

Driving a pivotal enhancement for Weber State University’s HARBOR program, I led the development of an automated tracking antenna. This project underscored my abilities in securing resources, as evidenced by the grant I authored, and my knack for identifying and implementing critical improvements—skills essential for strategic product direction and stakeholder management. Many sensors on the system needed to have direct line-of-sight communication using a Yagi antenna. For some time, a person would need to hold the antenna and point it directly at the balloon, which would fly for sometimes close to two hours as it reached the outer atmosphere. We proposed and succeeded in building a system for tracking the ballon position automatically and maintaining line-of-sight. It was a monumental success and much more affordable (1/10th) than the industrial-paid solutions that existed already.

Innovation for Justice (I4J)

In collaboration with The University of Arizona MBA program, I delved into optimizing the process for case managers assisting with Social Security Benefits applications in Alaska. Leveraging product management expertise and Adobe XD design, this endeavor showcased my commitment to user-centric design and cross-functional collaboration—a testament to effective product strategy and team leadership.

Python Stock Trading App

A fairly simple python script using RSS feeds to scrape internet traffic and communications to look for trends and increasing conversation, with sentiment analysis, linked to Stock tickers. Sent slack messages suggesting to go look at the ticker in Robinhood, as well as associated price action data.

Product Concept Accept, The Herb Wall

Conceptualizing ‘The Herb Wall’ as an innovative in-home appliance, I aimed to promote sustainability and holistic well-being. This endeavor emphasizes my capability to foresee consumer needs and design products that resonate on multiple levels, showcasing the analytical and empathetic thinking crucial for impactful product decision-making.

Product Concept Accept, Toilet Redesign

Envisioning a transformative approach to toilets and waste systems, this concept aimed to revolutionize sustainability in everyday products. My ability to anticipate market needs and drive innovative solutions speaks to a deep understanding of user experience and a vision for sustainable futures—key attributes for long-term product planning and vision.
